This year, Welgro celebrates its 65th anniversary – a special milestone we are proud to mark. What began as an ambitious family business has, over more than six decades, grown into a leading specialist in high-quality bulk trailers for the European transport sector within the animal feed and food industry.

A rich history
Since its foundation in 1961, Welgro has focused on quality, craftsmanship and sustainability. In the early years, the focus was on building agricultural vehicles, which later shifted to the production of robust bulk trailers offering reliability and safety in a rapidly growing transport market. By continuously investing in knowledge and production processes, Welgro steadily grew into a trusted name within the sector.

Welgro’s strength lay – and still lies – in customer-focused craftsmanship. Every customer, every load and every application requires a specific solution. By listening closely to the market and working closely with customers, Welgro has consistently adapted to changing requirements in the areas of safety, regulations and efficiency.

Innovation as a common thread
For 65 years, innovation has been the cornerstone of Welgro’s success. Over the years, we have introduced numerous technological improvements and product developments that have raised the bar in the market.

Some key innovations:

  • Robust construction – Thanks to carefully considered material choices and optimised designs, we continue to reduce the actual weight of our vehicles without compromising on strength. This results in a higher payload and lower operating costs for our customers. Sustainability is also taken into account in this process, by selecting materials that can be reused at the end of the bulk trailer’s life cycle.
  • Advanced unloading systems – More efficient and safer unloading systems ensure shorter unloading times and greater reliability. The specific properties of the product to be unloaded are preserved, with hygiene being a top priority thanks to the absence of hidden spaces and the ability to easily wet-clean the system.
  • Improved safety systems – Through the continuous development of safety features, our vehicles not only meet current standards but often exceed them.
  • Sustainable production processes – Investments in modern production techniques and energy-efficient solutions help to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Digital unloading system – Driven by our constant drive for innovation, we have developed a digital unloading system, SMARTbulk, entirely in-house. By combining intelligent control, real-time data insights and advanced software, we achieve maximum control, efficiency and operational reliability. The result: shorter unloading times, leading to fuel savings and CO2 reduction, optimal product safety and a new standard in ease of use for the driver.
  • Future innovations – FLEXbulk – The future demands flexibility and smart logistics solutions. With the FLEXbulk concept, we are responding to the growing need for more efficient loading and unloading of dry materials such as animal feed and raw materials. By combining proven technologies in a semi-trailer, we create new possibilities in terms of versatility, speed and ease of use. By simply carrying return loads, fewer empty kilometres are driven and the load factor is increased. FLEXbulk symbolises our ambition to complement our traditional unloading systems with the next step in bulk transport.

Building the future together
65 years of Welgro also means 65 years of collaboration. With customers, suppliers and employees who, together, make a difference. Thanks to their dedication, loyalty and expertise, we have been able to develop into a stable and innovative partner within the international animal feed sector and the transport industry. Whilst we look back with pride on our history, we are primarily looking ahead to tackle the major challenges in the areas of sustainability, emissions reduction and efficiency. Welgro continues to invest in product development and process innovation to meet the demands of today, as well as those of tomorrow.

65 years of experience form the foundation – innovation is our future.
